The Limerick Greenway, built along the former Limerick to Tralee railway line, is a beautifully redeveloped off-road cycling and walking trail that offers a scenic and accessible way to explore West Limerick. With six convenient entry points, visitors can join the route at Rathkeale, Ardagh, Newcastle West, Barnagh, Templeglantine, or Abbeyfeale, where the journey ends with stunning views of the Allaghaun River.
Winding through the heart of Limerick’s traditional agricultural landscape, the Greenway seamlessly connects major towns to some of the region’s most historic landmarks. Along the way, visitors can pass through a striking Victorian-era railway tunnel, explore ancient castles and abbeys, wander through serene native forests, and meet the welcoming locals who make Limerick so special.
